Panduan Menjawab Section B, Kertas 2, 1119/2 Bahasa Inggeris SPM

Section B adalah section yang dikatakan paling 'mudah' dalam kertas 2, Bahasa Inggeris SPM.
Ya, section ini agak 'mudah' sebenarnya jika dibandingkan dengan bahagian-bahagian lain dalam kertas 2 ini.

Jom tengok apa yang 'mudah'?
Lihat juga nanti apakah 'trick' yang mungkin membuatkan anda 'terperangkap' jika tidak berhati-hati di bahagian ini.

1) Ejaan atau spelling amat PENTING bagi bahagian ini.

Jaga spelling dan capitalisation anda. Apa itu capitalisation? Maksudnya kena tahu bezakan yang mana perlu ditulis dengan huruf besar dan yang mana perlu ditulis dengan huruf kecil. Sound simple, tapi ramai SPM candidates yang cuai part ini, menyebabkan markah hilang.

2) Jawab hanya apa yang ditanya.

Jika ditanya 'date', jawab 'date' sahaja, jangan ditambah 'time' atau  'day'. Unnecessary extra information juga menyebabkan markah anda ditolak.

3) Unsur HOTS

Saya yakin semua pelajar maklum tentang hal ini. Eleman HOTS atau KBAT ini menjadi elemen wajib merentasi semua matapelajaran sekarang ini.

Bagaimana menjawab soalan-soalan sebegini?

Pastikan anda gunakan ayat yang diolah dari teks yang diberi atau gunakan ayat sendiri.
Biasanya soalan aras tinggi memerlukan anda faham teks yang diberi, kemudian membuat andaian atau kesimpulan berdasarkan maklumat yang diberi.

Jadi, sudah faham requirement Section B?

Sekarang, cuba buat latihan yang diberi guru anda, lihat samaada anda boleh mencapai perfect score 10/10 setiap kali latihan.

Jika tidak, banyakkan latihan sehingga anda berjaya mendapat perfect score ini!

Improving Vocabularies

For one to improve his writing in English Language, he has to read a lot. Yet, reading alone without proper techniques will only leave one with the vaguest idea of what he has read.

So how to read effectively?

1) Determine your purpose of reading; whether you are looking for new ideas or new words.

2) Refer to the questions (for exam paper) before you read a particular pragraph.

3) Highlight important points/sentences related to your purpose of reading the text.

4) Ensure that you read a topic about something that of your interest.

This way, you will find reading less taxing thus assist you in understanding the topic better.

      A good piece of writing is like ice cream of many flavours, you will never be       

             bored with varied choices.

There's two essential elements for one to produce a good piece of writing:

1) a strong foundation in grammar

2) a good set of vocabularies

Master these two, you will find your path to writing a masterpiece an easy task.

Mastering Summary Writing

Writing is like drinking the right tea for your specific needs. *wink*

As simple as it looks, summary can be a complicated matter if you are not careful of its techniques.

One of it is:

- be extra careful not to include unnnecessary details in the writing.

How to be sure of that?

Well, read and reread the questions many times to ensure you get the correct understanding of them.

Never judge

I seldom read a very long message especially in any whatsApp @ Telegram group, except that it was of official matter.

But this one caught my attention that I feel the urge to share it with you, my friends.

~A 24-year old boy looking out through a train's window shouted, "Dad, look, "the trees are going behind; they are moving very fast" his Dad simply stared at him with so much joy and smiled!

A young couple seated nearby looked at the 24-year old and thought to themselves, he's so grown up but so childish, he must have a mental disorder for his father not to be bothered.

Suddenly the young man exclaimed again; Dad, look, "the clouds are running with us"

The couple could not resist and said to the old man, "why don't you take your son to a good doctor may be a psychiatrist?"

The old man smiled and said:

"I just did. We are just coming from a doctor but not a psychiatrist ; we are just coming from the hospital."

"My son was blind from birth. He just got his sight today for the very first time, his behavior may seem stupid to you, it's more than a miracle to me."

The young couple just sat down there, lost for words with a mixture of tears and shame in their eyes.

Everybody on earth has a story;

don't judge people so fast or jump into conclusion about their private affairs;

you don't know where they are coming from or what they have to deal with.

The truth behind their story might surprise you.

Take it easy with others, even if you have a perfect life.

Let us keep working towards the good of all."

Summary Writing for 1119/2, SPM

Bagaimana menulis Summary?

1) salin 10 perkataan diberi (the 10 words given)

2) lukis lines/box untuk tandakan range. 

Bagaimana?

Lihat soalan, ada dinyatakan anda perlu mencari isi penting 'from line ___ to line ___', kemudian buat garisan untuk memastikan tiada isi yang diambil sebelum atau selepas range tersebut.

Ini amat penting kerana jika terdapat sebarang isi penting yang diambil di luar range yang diberikan, markah 'language' anda mungkin terjejas.

3) mula mencari isi-isi penting berdasarkan soalan diberi. Beri tumpuan pada 'keyword' seperti what/how, untuk memudahkan mencari isi yang dikehendaki.

4) baca teks sambil merujuk samaada isi tersebut menjawab soalan yang diberikan.

5) tanda/highlight/garis isi-isi penting.

6) salin isi-isi penting tanpa mengubah struktur ayat. 

7) gunakan 'compund sentences' atau 'complex sentences' jika and yakin struktur ayat anda betul.

8) jika kurang pasti tentang bagaimana membina 'compund sentence' atau 'complex sentence', salin tanpa mengubah apa-apa ayat, ini adalah jalan selamat dari meletakkan diri anda berisiko kehilangan markah 'language'.

Jika anda salin semula isi-isi penting dengan betul, serta tiada langsung kesalahan ejaan, anda boleh mendapat 3 markah 'language', menjadikan jumlah markah summary anda 13/15, bagus bukan?

9) tulis sehingga sekurang-kuranganya 127 atau 130 patah perkataan. Jangan lebih walau satu huruf kerana ia akan menjejaskan struktur ayat anda. Markah hanya diberi sehingga mksimum perkataan yang ke-130 sahaja.
